Palmerston Curling Club History

Norm Bowes curling at the Palmerston Curling Club

The curling club was founded in 1903 and games were played on a natural two ice sheet lean-to beside the arena.
Eventually, due in large part to the growing popularity of the sport in the region, the club moved to an indoor rink and then in 1978 to its current location at the Palmerston & District Community Centre and arena complex.
With four ice sheets for curling this facility plays host to annual bonspiels, league play and lessons for those new to the sport, with a season extending from mid-October to the end of March.
The lounge was updated in 2015 to better service spectators, and those awaiting play or relaxing after.
